About
Billie Jago is a DELTA qualified writer, teacher trainer and consultant who has been working in the ELT industry for over 15 years. She specialises in digital resources and assessment.
She began her teaching career in 2012 in Italy, teaching young learners through project-based lessons.
She then moved to China, where she taught up to 70 students per class - over 1000 students per week - and gave whole-school talks to an audience of over 8000 students.
Billie then moved to Spain and began teaching 1:1 and small group classes, specialising in preparing students for their Cambridge and IELTS exams.
In 2016 she moved back to the UK to teach in Cambridge, where she was consistently rated in the top 3 teachers in the UK and Ireland for the largest private educational company in the world. She then began leading teacher training courses for teachers from international backgrounds.
Since then, she has gained extensive experience in both print and digital materials; with a particular focus on app development and item writing. She has written well-known materials for various publishers and educational institutions including:

As a subject matter expert (SME) in digital education and assessment, Billie has vast experience in working with various online authoring platforms, including Learnosity and Avallain. She has written assessments for:
- Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)
- PTE-A (Pearson)
- Cambridge main suite of exams (Cambridge Assessment)
- EnglishScore (British Council)
Alongside her writing, Billie also delivers regular teacher training sessions, plenary talks and workshops around the globe, most recently in Peru, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia. She also consults on new coursebook concepts, reviews early draft materials and consults on digitizing print materials.
In 2021, she founded the ELTcpd podcast, delivering professional development sessions to ELT professionals. The podcast has, to date, over 5000 downloads in 44 territories. ELTcpd has also launched its own teacher training courses, specialising in AI in the classroom.
In 2022, she co-founded ottereducation, a digital agency which focuses on helping publishers deliver complex, multi-stage digital projects.
She also volunteers her time teaching English to those who have faced criminal injustices.
