Billie Jago is a DELTA qualified writer, teacher trainer and public speaker who has been working in the education industry for over 18 years. She specialises in digital resources and assessment. ​

She began her teaching career in 2012 in Italy, teaching young learners through project-based lessons. She then moved to China, where she taught up to 70 students per class - over 1000 students per week - and began her public speaking career - giving whole-school talks to an audience of over 8000 students.

 

Billie then moved to Spain and launched her own language company, specialising in teaching 1:1 and small group classes to prepare for their Cambridge and IELTS exams. 

 

In 2016, Billie returned to the UK to teach in Cambridge, where she consistently ranked among the top three teachers across the UK for one of the world’s largest private education providers. She went on to lead teacher training courses, supporting educators from a range of international backgrounds in developing their skills and practice.

Since then, Billie has delivered more than 250 talks, workshops and training sessions to thousands of teachers around the world. Drawing on her experience, she speaks on topics including digital learning, educational innovation, assessment, inclusive education and the future of teaching. Her sessions combine industry expertise with practical ideas, helping educators explore new approaches, develop their skills and apply what they learn in their own contexts.

Alongside her speaking and training, Billie is a published ELT author and consultant who has worked with leading international publishers and educational organisations, including Pearson, National Geographic Learning, Cambridge Assessment, the British Council and Oxford University Press. Her expertise spans print and digital content development, app development, assessment design and item writing. She also consults on new coursebook concepts, reviews early draft materials and consults on digitizing print materials. ​​

In 2021, she founded ELTcpd, delivering professional development sessions to ELT professionals. The podcast has, to date, over 15,000 downloads in 44 territories. Billie also delivers teacher training courses through ELTcpd, and a YouTube channel sharing videos and tips on useful classroom activities and resources for teachers.

In 2022, she co-founded OtterEducation, a digital agency which focused on helping publishers deliver complex, multi-stage digital projects such as pronunciation courses, gamified language-learning apps, assessement development and DEI and Accessibility reviews.

Billie volunteers her time teaching English and mentoring those who have faced criminal injustices.
